Installation of headquarters and coffee roastery in industrial hall, ViCOLLECTIVE, Zurich

In the former SBB workshops in Zurich Altstetten, a new location for contemporary businesses is being created. The heritage listed industrial hall did become a stage for the various ViCOLLECTIVE companies, which all come together under one roof for the first time. The central element of the extension is the coffee roastery – together with a barista training room, warehouse, workshop spaces, a bakery, a public bistro with coffee bar, as well as around 50 internal workstations and meeting rooms on the upper floor, it forms a precisely composed ensemble. The new buildings make use of the 1,000 m2 hall in a restrained and targeted manner, allowing the impressive spatial effect and the industrial history of the over 100-year-old structure to remain tangible.
